Subaru has a dream - however, unlike other, more famous dreams, his is rather bland and imageless. It's just a disembodied voice warning him about a great catastrophe about to befall the world, and that two futures await him - one of destruction, and one of battle. It is him and him alone who will decide the future, and the voice will always be watching... Subaru's waking comments seem to imply that he heard more than one voice, as well. Rock is surprisingly quiet, but there's a knock at the door, and since mom is working part-time, Subaru has to get up and check it out. However, upon inspection, Rock is neither in the Transer nor the room, but Subaru still has to answer the door... You'll get an email letting you know that the shop BIG WAVE has opened, and it's a Battlecard shop. Head over to the door, only to have a trenchcoat-clad oddball run in. He'll mumble to himself about strange occurences in town and solving them, and Subaru will scream "burglar!" The guy freaks out and reassures Subaru that he's not a burglar, he's Goyouda Heiji, and his manner of speech indicates to Subaru that he's a policeman. Goyouda explains that he's investigating the out of control truck and the Amaken VR Space incidents, which both had special Zet Waves present, and it's his job to find out what generates them. Believing them a threat to humanity (causing the two incidents), he seeks to destroy the generators of the Zet Waves. Obviously, Subaru can't tell him about his adventures, and so he lies saying he knows nothing, which is good enough for Goyouda for now. Subaru decides he needs to find Rock immediately. As the email earlier explained, BIG WAVE is now open, and in addition to a Card Shop, it also has the Card Trader - toss three junk cards in for a random one. The Card Trader here behaves similarly to the one in EXE 4.5 - while it won't auto-save, the cards you get from it are predetermined if you just keep resetting, so you'll need to do things if you don't like the cards you get. When you want to advance, head to the lookout - you won't find Rock, but you'll meet a little girl strumming her guitar, who is playing a song she just wrote, dedicating it to her mother (judging from the fact she talks to the sky, who wants to bet mommy croaked?). She apologizes for taking up your lookout and takes off, and Rock decides to show up - her playing apparently attracted his interest, since it exuded loneliness, a major attraction to the FM aliens, and he wanted to be on the lookout. He says no one showed up though, so the girl is clean. Meanwhile, Subaru briefs Rock on Goyouda and his search for the cause of the Zet Waves. Rock is happy that Subaru cared enough to warn him, to which Subaru reacts defensively. He also asks if Subaru knew the girl, but Subaru only just met her... hm... anyway, time to go home. Of course, who should we run into but Dr. Shirogane and TV's Gonta and Kizamaro again - Luna's rather pissed about having her Transer peeked into by Goyouda, who's still investigating the Zet Waves. She takes off in a huff, while Gonta and Kizamaro decide to head home and rest rather than follow her, so they can be ready for "Misora-chan"'s concert tomorrow. Subaru's query as to what they're talking about illicits shock from the obviously fanboyish Kizamaro and Gonta, who are part of the fan club of this Hibiki Misora, a musician just making her big break. Turns out she's playing live in Kodama Town tomorrow (guess what we're going to have to show up for? ohmy.gif ), and so they want all their strength to cheer for her tomorrow. Though they fear the wrath of an abandoned Luna, they decide to chance it and run. Afterwards, Goyouda goes by, and Subaru hides. Rock wants to check him out, so we have to go enter his Transer. However, once you get close to him in Wave form, he puts up a Zet Reflecter barrier that prevents you from entering. Well, gotta find a way to do something about that. Head back to the lookout and examine the Pitchingman - if you could make it run, you might be able to do something with it. However, you'll need to find the owner - Kaiki, who is the little boy in front of BIG WAVE. Head there now and chat the kid up. However, he doesn't seem to want to talk about baseball, so check his Transer to learn how to use it. However, the key is "sealed" under a bench - go to the lookout and look at the bench in front of the statue to get the Pitching Card. Activate Pitchingman and a Wave Hole appears, but it doesn't seem operational. Rock presumes viruses, so go check it out. Investigation reveals a virus - delete it and the plan begins. Rock goes to lead Goyouda to Pitchingman, while Subaru operates it to hurl a baseball at him. Simply tap the button to continue. Now that Goyouda's out cold, you can check out his Transer. Read the Comment to get an idea of how much he knows thus far. Once you leave, Rock will insist on going back in and deleting all his data, setting him back quite a ways. When Goyouda comes to, he freaks out and runs off. With that over, it's time to go home and sleep. Rock is here today, but there's a knock at the door, and since mom is working part-time, Subaru has to get up and check it ou- wait a tick, this seems familiar. However, when the time comes for the person at the door to barge in, it's not Goyouda, but... some guy dressed in purple, who like Goyouda, has a tendency to run into people's houses, and in the exact same words insists that he's not a burglar. He's looking for someone named "Misora", and of course this would be the same Hibiki Misora that Gonta and Kizamaro are obsessing over. Apparently, this blighter is her manager, and he freaks out when Subaru has no clue what she looks like. The guy takes off, but Subaru seems interested in searching for Misora, so off we go. Once he's out the door, the Help Signal goes off again, but it doesn't get stronger anywhere in Town. Head to the lookout and examine the train. The guitar girl from the other day shows up, and Subaru immediately figures out she's Hibiki Misora. She wants to be hidden, and seems spiteful of the manager who has nothing but thoughts of money in his head. Subaru decides to help by hiding her at Amachi's, to Rock's surprise. Subaru replies that he understands Misora's feelings of not wanting to be around people, so he wants to help. The two leave, somehow just barely passing Kizamaro without him recognizing his idol. Go figure, huh? Catch the bus to Amaken and talk to Amachi in his office. Long cut scene where Misora gets to hang out, and Amachi suggests you two become Brothers. Subaru is hesitant, and Rock teases him about it when they're alone. Subaru insists that it's because Brothers have to share their secrets, and keeping a secret like Rock wouldn't be proper. However, they're interrupted by a power outage, which Rock says is because of the things generating Zet Waves. Time to get to work! There are five little black balls of energy you need to break, so Wave in in the museum. There's 2 in Amachi's lab, and 1 in every other part of the building. Clean 'em all out, then wave out and chat up Misora, who wants to talk to you alone on the roof. Go up and she'll spill her guts about her life story involving her sickly mother and how her singing made her happy. This gets interrupted by the manager coming up to reclaim Misora and Amachi trying to stop him. Subaru tries to help, but gets knocked aside by the Manager. Amachi gets pissed at the guy for bullying small children, but the manager just storms off yelling about huge sums of money. Misora apologizes to Subaru and thanks him before walking off as well, and Amachi apologizes for not being able to help Subaru. Subaru reflects on how worthless he feels himself to be and how he can't be a strength for anyone. Time to head home, but once outside the house, Gonta and Kizamaro show up, since Kizamaro remembered seeing you at the lookout. The banter is, of course, about Misora, and comes down to Gonta and Kizamaro gossiping about what could've happened, and Subaru getting indignant, telling them not to speak about things they don't know the first thing about. There's some uncomfortable moments, with Kizamaro believing Subaru's just become a fan as well and is just indignant, and supports that... meanwhile, Misora and her manager are arguing, since Misora sings for her mother's happiness rather than money, while the manager just wants to turn profits. Misora runs off, and is approached by another FM alien - Harp. She offers Misora the power to defend her music on her own, and as if to prod Misora on, her manager shows up demanding her to come along. Misora goes along with Harp, and they Denpa Henkan into Harp Note, who uses her guitar to stun the manager. The scene shifts once again to Subaru and the two goons... Goyouda shows up as well, but all three are knocked out by a strange sound. Rock warns Subaru to put on the Visualizer, and they see Harp Note. There's some banter where she asks Subaru not to interfere, but of course this can't be left alone. Wave in and follow the path towards the lookout, but be careful - you'll be forced to defend yourself from Harp Note's musical barrage three times. Four Buster buttons will appear on the screen and by tapping each button, you will shoot in that direction. One hit is enough to destroy each of the notes coming at you. The first round is easy, but the second and third speed things up considerably, so be careful. You'll gain Zenny for completing each one. After the first one, follow Misora to the path that leads to lookout, and she'll run off, asking you to leave her be still. Keep after her, and keep following her, clearing the second and travel to Amaken's wave roads for the third minigame, until you corner her. A long banter will follow, where it seems Rock and Harp aren't as diametrically opposed as the other FMs are to him, and Rock "doesn't like going all out against women". In the end, you'll still have to fight though, so be ready!

Another long dialogue follows, with Subaru spilling his guts about his father, and how he was afraid of losing people important to him like that, and thus didn't want to go to school or make friends. His mother saved him by saying he didn't have to go to school if he didn't want to, blah blah blah. Misora apologizes and thanks him for everything, and it seems that Harp has decided not to cause trouble either. She and Misora will be sticking together, it seems. Also, Misora plans to retire as a singer for a while to (I think) finish school, so a few days later she does a farewell concert (the live for Kodama Town she skipped out on earlier). Afterward, she and Subaru chat, and she has a bit of a breakdown, which ends with Subaru finally asking her to Brother with him. You do so, and Level 10 Misora Hibiki becomes your Brother. Her Link Abilities are First Barrier, starting your battles off with Barrier, and UnderShirt, meaning all fatal attacks done when you have 2+ HP reduce you merely to 1. She also gives you a +30 to HP. The two of you teaming up gives Misora strength, and she heads off. Subaru's pendant mysteriously starts glowing. Go figure. End chapter.
