Rockman ZX

The Rockman ZX series is the sixth in the franchise, and debuted on July 6th of 2006 on the Nintendo DS handheld system. Rockman ZX is one of the spinoffs of the now long-running video game series, and currently consists of two games. It is the first to allow the player to transform at will.

The series takes place on a technologically advanced world, where humans and reploids coexist peacefully. In time, the residents of Earth managed to revive some of its former nations; however, preventing further prosperity, global incidents began where several machine life forms went maverick, endangering various areas and obstructing exchange between nations. As a result, the nations divided into areas designated as Innerpeace (a safe haven for humans and reploids alike) and the Outlands (dangerous zones inhabited by Irregulars).

Arriving as a saving grace, Serpent Company restored peaceful life by providing Innerpeace inhabitants with technology based off of those found in the Outland ruins. The company's president is a powerful man named Serpent, who raised the organization from the group up, excavating ancient technology and putting it to good use; however, whilst his reach is far and wide, it still doesn't cover the frontier regions, where crisis management is poor and Maverick attacks are commonplace.

In these areas, a small group develop their own self-defense organization knowns as The Guardians, protecting the outer regions and investigating the causes of the Maverick element. The original leader of The Guardians disappeared during an investigation of the Outlands area; however, command has been assumed by a young girl named Prarie. Furthermore, the two teenaged protagonists, male Vent and female Aile, have both lost their parents due to Maverick attacks, though they were taken in by a man named Girouette, who runs his own express delievery business. One day, he's called by a young girl to make a mysterious delievery to the Outlands...

The main focus of the Rockman ZX series are Bio-Metals, specifically Model X and Model Z, based off of the legendary reploids Rockman X and Zero, respeectively. These Bio-Metals are artifacts unearthed from ancient ruins and containing information about past events, carrying the memories of the being the Bio-Metal was based on. Because of such information, the battle experiences of these legendary reploids are also contained within the Bio-Metals, granting its user the ability to fight with vast amounts of skill. Eventually, two Bio-Metals may be activated simultaneously; as denoted in the series name, the fusion of Model Z and Model X forms none other than Model ZX.

In the second game of the series, Rockman ZX: Advent, two new protagonists are introduced - male reploid Grey and female hunter Ashe. Furthermore, a federation government, known as Legion, has implemented various restrictions to blur the line between human and reploid. Under these conditions, the protagonist is sought out by the Sage Trinity to unravel the mysteries behind the Bio-Metals. New to this game is Model A, based off of the legendary reploid Axl, which possesses the A-Trans ability, allowing it to assume the form of other reploids.
